What is a pocket spring core?

Structure of a pocket spring core mattress

A pocket spring core is a high-quality mattress core in which spiral springs are sewn into a fabric pocket so that each spring reacts independently to pressure. This results in high point elasticity so that the body and spine are optimally supported. The pocket spring core is a further development of the classic Bonell spring core and offers significantly better lying properties. Although pocket spring core mattresses are considered an even higher quality alternative, pocket spring core mattresses offer good value for money.

Core made of steel springs

The pocket spring core consists of hundreds of steel springs that are individually sewn into fabric pockets. These pockets separate the springs from each other and enable a high level of point elasticity.

Upholstery layer

The foam upholstery is located above the protective layer. This layer prevents the springs from being felt and also improves the feel of the mattress.

Protective layer

There is a protective layer of fleece or felt directly above and below the steel springs. This layer prevents the springs from damaging the upholstery layer above and provides additional stability.

Cover

The mattress cover encases the entire construction. A removable and washable cover contributes to hygiene and supports air circulation.
